Adult prophylaxis

Preserve your teeth for a lifetime with efficient dental prophylaxis.

Not all dental plaque can be removed with the help of dental floss and a toothbrush. In particular, wearers of high-quality dentures (implants/fixed dentures) should treat themselves to regular dental cleanings so that you can enjoy your investment for a long time. This is where professional teeth cleaning comes in.

Professional tooth cleaning (PZR): Bacterial plaque on tooth surfaces and in gum pockets is the main cause of diseases of your teeth and gums (caries and periodontitis). Professional teeth cleaning supports dental health in the long term. Regular sessions every 3 to 6 months significantly reduce the risk of these diseases (this has been proven several times in international research studies). The PZR includes the following services:

  • Assessment of the current state of health of your teeth and gums
  • Tartar removal using ultrasound
  • Plaque removal with Air-Flow
  • Polishing of the tooth surfaces
  • Cleaning of the interdental spaces
  • Demonstration and instruction of the customised tooth brushing technique and other aids such as dental floss, interdental brushes, etc.
  • Fluoridation - a special varnish is used to strengthen the enamel and reduce hypersensitivity of the teeth ("hot/cold effect")

The costs of the treatments are partly covered by private health insurance companies.

Paediatric prophylaxis

Regular individualised prophylaxis for children and adolescents helps to maintain beautiful and healthy teeth and prevents costly interventions, as the risk of tooth decay is greatly reduced.

Professional tooth cleaning and prophylaxis is essential, especially for those who wear braces, which are a hiding place for a large number of bacteria and food residues, as they are at an increased risk of tooth decay.

Individualised prophylaxis greatly increases the likelihood that the teeth will be caries-free after orthodontic treatment has been completed.

Between the ages of 6 and 18, your children are entitled to the following twice a year

free prophylaxis twice a year:

  • individual counselling
  • intensive motivation
  • nutritional counselling
  • Tips for proper dental care
  • Colouring of plaque on the teeth
  • joint cleaning of the teeth
  • Professional tooth cleaning
  • Fissure sealing (fissures are the deep pits on the chewing surfaces of the molars)
  • Fluoridation with special varnish for resistant teeth

Prophylaxis during pregnancy:

Even during pregnancy, prophylactic measures for the mother should be utilised to a greater extent, as periodontitis germs can have an influence on the course of a pregnancy. Pregnancy-related periodontitis can also occur, which can be prevented by prophylactic measures.

In addition, the mother often infects her child with these germs, for example when kissing the baby or licking the spoon during feeding.

Professional teeth cleaning reduces germs in the mother's mouth and has been proven to reduce the number of caries bacteria.
